2 hours | 1x per week | $400 for 8 weeks
This class is perfect for the person who wants to learn the basics of operating a sewing machine, with the added skill of sewing a simple garment. This 8-week beginner sewing class introduces students to the fundamentals of sewing and garment construction.
Students will:
-
How to safely and confidently operate a sewing machine, understand fabric types and grain, and prepare fabric for sewing
How to read and follow commercial sewing patterns
How to safely cut fabric
How to take accurate body measurements to choose the correct pattern size for their measurements and sew a simple garment
How to create strong, professional seam finishes without a serger.
Throughout the course, students will complete 2-3 non-gender-specific projects that reinforce these skills and build confidence. By the end of the class, students will have a solid foundation in sewing techniques and feel prepared to continue making garments and sewn projects independently.
Machine Rental: $5 per class if you don't bring your own sewing machine. Use the Add-on feature when booking your class.
Supplies: Students are responsible for providing consumable supplies, including fabric, thread, and other notions.
